Those rules were written with the best intention of the game designer to provide players with a specific experience. Not all games that make it to market have been play tested to find every possible flaw, and not all games that make it to market are balanced well. Monopoly is a classic example of poor game balance (most games in our experience end in rage or boredom). One player quickly outpaces the rest and everyone else slowly loses the ability or interest in playing the game.

Over the years, I’ve often found myself asking, Why did they do that? What part of the game is that rule supposed to balance? Or even just saying, This part makes zero sense compared to everything else. Last year, just after Ohio launched its legal market, Fanatics offered merchandise consumers promotional bets at its digital sportsbook. They have a plethora of table and card games to play for anywhere from 2 to 8 players. They have a very large selection of drinks as well, not as many food options but you can bring in outside food. I had the root beer which was absolutely delicious and smooth. House Rules Gaming can place custom orders in for any game you are looking for.
Here you’re able to order drinks from the bar, food from somewhere nearby, and select a game to play from the largest board game collection around. It can get pretty busy so I’d recommend a reservation. They have almost any game you could think of as well as plenty of pencils and paper to use while playing. We tend to fill up quickly on most weeknights and Saturdays. Walk-ins are seated first come first serve if tables are available. You can make a reservation up to two months in advance. Due to limited space, we do not offer a waiting list.
This gives your group extra time to casually arrive, order beverages, and settle in. The extra time is great for giving you time to finish up "one more turn!". We have high chairs and games for the young ones.

Return by air to Guayaquil, and enjoy dayrooms at the Hotel del Parque before flights home—or continue to Quito for an optional two-night extension. Gratuities ($180 recommended per person, per week) and onboard bar and gift shop purchases are tallied at the end of the voyage and can be paid in cash, by credit card or with personal checks if drawn from a U.S. bank. Expedition gear is common during the daytime, and shorts and T-shirts are perfectly acceptable during the evenings, though many cruisers will clean up a little for the evening recap briefings, cocktail hour and dinner.

This wasn’t the kind of trip where you spend a lot of time in your room, so we didn’t need more space. I understand I booked the least expensive room, but it was by no means cheap, so this isn’t something that I would expect based on how much the room cost. We stayed at Hotel Oro Verde for 2 nights before the cruise and 1 night after the cruise, and it was all arranged by Lindblad. The Galápagos Islands are a part of Ecuador, so I flew from Columbus, Ohio (CMH) to Guayaquil, Ecuador (GYE), with a stop in Miami (MIA) as the first leg of this trip. Explorer Ventures Humboldt Explorer and Tiburon Explorer
Onboard, you'll find everything from Wi-Fi internet access to laundry service, and fun toys for exploration that include kayaks, a fleet of inflatable landing craft and even a glass-bottom boat. The 16-passenger Celebrity Xploration is arguably the most luxurious catamaran in the Galápagos. Its eight suites and junior suites feature extras like binoculars, personal refrigerators, a pillow menu, and room service. The catamaran cruises two routes, a northern route and a southern route, both lasting seven nights. The Galápagos is home to whale sharks, hammerhead sharks, spotted eagle rays, manta rays, sunfish, and many other marine creatures. Also, most of these locations require visitors to be with a naturalist at all times, so these aren’t places you can just visit on your own. Plus, a cruise gives you easy access to all of the water activities you’ll want to try, such as snorkeling and kayaking.
Galapagos cruises are the best way to experience the collection of remote, mostly uninhabited islands about 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador. But cruises in the Galapagos Islands aren’t like cruises anyplace else. The ships here are smaller, with some carrying as few as 16 passengers. In the evenings, we got the next day’s itinerary along with some local chocolates. However, I wasn’t sure I’d have any Wi-Fi at all, so I was happy with the little I got. It was just enough to send my daughter a quick text or to post a photo to Instagram.
This region may be better known for its landscapes and wildlife, but the Galapagos Islands are also an excellent place for stargazing. The entire trip was excellent; a lot of different activity options everyday - hiking, snorkeling, swimming, lectures, zodiac rides - something for everyone. Lindblad was one of the most expensive trips we could choose from to see the Galapagos and it was worth EVERY penny. The quality of the naturalists and staff could not have been better, and I think the quality of this trip comes down to the quality of those leaders. Also, the Islander was the perfect combination of comfort and casual.
In the morning we cruised through the narrow Princess Royal and Glenville Channels, enjoying the incredible misty mountains of the glacially-carved coastline. Along the way we got glimpses at numerous seabirds, as well as the occasional harbor seal and Steller sea lion. A real highlight of the day was a fantastic presentation by National Geographic photographer Chris Rainier, who spoke about his work documenting Indigenous peoples around the world.

Galápagos National Park officials have set a maximum of 100 passengers per vessel, so these are some of the largest ships in the archipelago. Travelers may opt for a larger-capacity cruise ship for more space (such as bigger hallways and staircases for easier movement around the ship) and increased services like an onboard doctor. The downside of traveling on a large ship is the time it can take to complete transfers by zodiac from the boat to the islands. Also, some areas of the Galápagos may be off limits to larger ships. All cabins on the 48-passenger National Geographic Islander II have windows, and some even have private patios.
Yes, very professional and serious, but personable, kind and funny! The trip leader (Lynn) and the naturalists were the BEST part of the trip. They knew so much about the region; we would not have had this great an experience with any other leaders. Itineraries may be altered due to weather, wildlife, National Park regulation or at the captain’s discretion. Due to the active nature of volcanoes in the Western Galapagos, alternate excursions may be offered. The ability to be flexible makes this type of small ship cruising unique.
